Engineering Team Leader

  • Location: South of Malta
The successful candidate will be reporting to the Plant Manager and will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of a team of engineers. This includes assigning and monitoring work, providing feedback, and coaching, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
 
In addition, Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to company policies and procedures, as well as safety standards. As the Team Lead, s/he will also be the point of contact for escalated issues and expected to provide input on decisions impacting the team.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and previous experience leading a team of engineers in a pharmaceutical environment. S/he will be an excellent communicator with strong problem-solving skills.
 

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the Plant Engineering Team including Facilities / Validation / Production and for the day to day running of the facility to ensure that all the engineering aspects for Quality / Manufacturing / Warehousing / QC are maintained within the required specifications
  • Develop project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with Plant Manager
  • Determine / Develop project specifications by studying product design, requirements, and performance standards; completing technical studies; preparing cost estimates
  • Provide timely engineering solutions to problems associated with project assignments
  • Assist with Technical evaluations / project task on capital projects from the concept funding stages through procurement, installation, start-up, and commissioning
  • Develop or assist with the development of project schedules by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements
  • Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems demonstrating ‘thinking outside of the box’
  • Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions
  • Control project costs by working towards approved expenditure; administering contractor contracts
  • Prepare project status reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends, recommending follow-up actions
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Maintain project records and documentation such as meeting minutes, specifications (URS drawings) (P&ID, schematics), change control, forms / data, etc.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by complying with EU and local regulations
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
 
Qualifications
 
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical / Mechanical preferred)
  • 5 – 15 years of related work experience (pharmaceutical experience preferred)
  • Instrumentation & Controls experience a plus
  • GMP/cGMP knowledge a plus
  • PMP certification a plus
