Senior Business (Financial) Controller

Our client is a business jet management company with holdings in Ireland, the UAE, Switzerland, and HQ in Malta. They are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Business Controller to join their growing finance team.
 
This is a high-impact role at the heart of the business, providing financial leadership and strategic insight across business jet operations. You will work closely with senior management, operations, and commercial teams to drive financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure strong financial discipline across the organisation.

Location: Gzira, Malta (on-site).
 
As Senior Business Controller, you will act as a key business partner to operational and commercial teams, translating financial data into meaningful insights that support the company's growth and performance.
 

Financial Leadership & Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across private jet operations.
• Monitor business performance and provide clear insights on financial trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Produce high-quality management reporting and financial dashboards for senior leadership.
• Support strategic planning and long-term financial modelling.

 
Operational & Commercial Insight

• Analyse profitability across aircraft operations, charter activities, and related services.
• Work closely with operations to optimise cost structures and improve operational efficiency.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) including aircraft utilisation, margins, and cost per flight hour.
• Provide financial analysis to support fleet planning and operational decisions.

 
Financial Control & Governance

• Ensure strong financial controls and operational discipline across business activities.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting and cost allocation.
• Support audit processes and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

 
Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in financial controlling, FP&A, or commercial finance roles.
• Qualified Accountant (ACCA or equivalent) is preferred.
• Experience within aviation, transportation, logistics, or other operational industries is highly advantageous.
• Excellent business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools.
• Ability to translate complex financial information into clear and actionable insights.
• Highly analytical and detail oriented.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong communicator with the ability to influence decision-making.
